Sick of all those fancy CD-burning apps not working for you? You need something that just gets the work done? Welcome to BashBurn - It just works!

BashBurn is the new name for the cd burning shell script Magma. It's not the best looking CD-burning application out there, but it does what you want it to do. (And if not then probably didn't want to do it anyway)

NEWS:

071109:

An updated version of 2.1.2 with the Spanish translation added replaces the version released yesterday. If you have no need for Spanish you do not have to re-download.

071108:

BashBurn 2.1.2 released. DVD-formatting is the biggest news with this release. English, Swedish and German translations are included in this release. More will come as they are updated.

070718:

BashBurn 2.1.1 released. Fixes some bugs in audio CD copying and a bugfix for local config file support.

070612:

BashBurn 2.1 is out. An italian translation was added, an update in the installation script for Frugalware users and support for a local config file among other things. Check it out.
(More translations will be added as they are updated)

070307:

BashBurn 2.0 is released. The major change being that functionality is split from the interface, so that BashBurn and forks (Such as MyBashBurn) can use the same core code through different interfaces. Also, some small changes and a bugfix in cd copying has been taken care of.

061230:

As a great way to start of the new year, BashBurn 1.8.5 has been re-released with an updated spanish translation added in. Happy New Year everyone!

061221:

BashBurn 1.8.5 is out. This release contains bugfixes, enhancements as well as a new feature to mount an ISO-file through BashBurn and edit it contents (BashBurn ISOEdit(TM)). The installer is also updated for Slackware 11 so get it while it's hot kids! Not all translations are updated, I will release an updated version of 1.8.5 at a later date with all translations added in.

061119:

No release or updates in a long time, but I can assure you all that BashBurn is not dead. There has been quite a few bugfixes and additions in svn, so if you feel like trying it out, download the unstable version. (Works very well for all my burning, so don't be too afraid of the word "unstable") I have no ETA on a new release since I'm quite busy with studies (As usual) at the moment.

060508:

BashBurn 1.8.0 is out. Lots of changes since 1.7.1, everyone is recommended to update to this version. Czech, norwegian and spanish translations are not yet finished. An updated version will be uploaded at a later date.

to download all files. After that when you want to update it, just cd into the directory and run:
svn update
to update to the latest version.

BashBurn Installation

Installing BashBurn is very simple.
1. First, download the latest version. Usually the development versions are pretty stable and should not cause any problems for you, but if you want to be on the safe side, get the latest stable version.

2. Second, unpack the downloaded tar.gz file with the command 'tar zxvf BashBurn-xyz.tar.gz' (Where xyz is the version number). This will create a directory and unpack all files into that. Enter that directory and as root, run the install script as './Install.sh' or 'sh Install.sh'. This will start the installation. Just answer the questions asked and in a matter of seconds the installation is done.

3. You can now delete the folder you unpacked BashBurn in, and as your regular user just type 'bashburn' in a console and the program will start. Remember to first configure BashBurn to suit your system, and then its ready to burn away!
If you have problems or things just don't work right, don't be afraid to send me an and ask/complain about it.

You might not need all of these programs for BashBurn to do what you want it to do, however I still suggest that if you are unsure you install all of them. If possible, install a version provided to you by your distribution.
